Philosophy

Crediton & District Swimming Club believe that there are many benefits to be gained from the participation in organised sport. Our objective is to provide a service in which every member can achieve success and attain his / her full potential as a swimmer, and as a person.

Success can be measured in many ways. It is true that not everyone can win medals, but everyone can achieve the satisfying feeling of success in many forms, such as:

  1. Striving to improve performance. We place great importance on achieving personal best times.
  2. The satisfaction of a job well done. Regular attendance and hard work produces a sense of fulfilment by knowing that you have done your best.
  3. Representing your club or school in competitions at club, county, and national level.
  4. Being a good club member, enjoying the feeling of belonging to a strong and successful club and knowing each one of you has contributed to that success.

Some of the more obvious benefits to be gained from participation in our training program are:

  1. Physical fitness and a feeling of wellbeing.
  2. Personal confidence which develops as a young person experiences success.
  3. A sense of discipline and a positive attitude which will carry over into other aspects of life.
  4. Social benefits to be gained from meeting people from many different cultures – both within this country and outside.
  5. The ability to accept and deal with both success and failure.
