About Us

Crediton & District Swimming Club is a thriving organisation which attends to the enrolment of about 100 members. Our club provides opportunities for young people to receive coaching in a friendly environment. Our club is for everyone and anyone ranging from the very young whose goal is to gain basic skills, to the competitive souls at various levels of ability. Our aim is that all members will achieve their maximum potential, while at the same time having fun. We are a members' club, run by volunteers. A Management Committee is elected by the members, for the members and the overall benefit of the club. We are a non-profit organization with all fees and sponsorship being ploughed back into the objectives of the club. The club starts with the Development Squad which provides an opportunity to progress from the Learn to Swim program. This squad is home to the first leg of the club. The Development Squad instructs its members to participate in competitive swimming, and also helps to develop endurance and speed in all four strokes to meet ASA standards and competition laws. The squad’s small size allows members to quickly refine their technique in all aspects of swimming. After members have successfully completed the Development Squad they can advance into the Junior Squad. This squad is led by Head Coach, Jane Brimacombe, and a further team of coaches. The squad sessions are held on various days and at various times throughout the week. Jane has exciting plans for the future, and together with the Management Committee, intends to develop all aspects of the club. In addition to the main swimming club sessions, Crediton & District Swimming Club also offers a Tri session for its members; this session focuses on preparing athletes for Triathlons, and in the summer months includes open water swimming. The club has been awarded the Swim 21 accreditation. This ‘Quality Mark’ recognises regional, and national, commitment to providing safe, effective services focussing on enabling athletes, coaches, and administrators to thrive in the best possible environment.
